NFL giveaway group news: Raiders relinquish newly acquired quarterback Christian Hackenberg

Christian Hackenberg’s time with a Raiders is over before it started.

Oakland has waived a 23-year-old quarterback, the group announced Tuesday. The Raiders acquired Hackenberg from a Jets in sell for a 2019 redeeming seventh-round collect in late May.

The Jets comparison Hackenberg, a three-year starter during Penn State, in a second turn of a 2016 NFL Draft. But, Hackenberg never played in a regular-season game for New York before he was sent to Oakland.

Hackenberg seemed to impugn a Jets coaching staff before a trade.

The Raiders now have starting quarterback Derek Carr as good as backups Connor Cook and EJ Manuel on their roster.
